Volunteers

Color on the Creek is managed and sustained through the generous volunteer support of Frederick county residents. Over four hundred active volunteers have given their time on land and in the water throughout the project. The water garden would simply not exist without their on-going support.

Although our volunteers learn about the art and science of water gardening they often provide innovative solutions to on-going logistical or biologic problems. There are so many ways we call on our volunteer. They schlep, pull carts, get muddy, get in the water, prune plants, shovel dirt and stone, plant lilies, lotus and bog plants, manage our website, social media, and provide logistical coordination and equipment. The volunteers rightfully take pride in the success of Color On The Creek. They truly “own” it.
